‹‹ back 04-08-2010 Dynamic Parking Guidance System Heidelberg put into Operation A celebration was held today to put the parking guidance system of the city of Heidelberg into operation. The Mayor of Heidelberg Dr. Würzner called the parking guidance system an important component to raise the attractivity of the city for customers, visitors and tourists. Messages of greetings were given also by our managing director Dr.-Ing. Manfred F. Brenner and by Dipl.-Ing. Norbert Körner from the system manufacturer Signalbau-Huber (swarco-Group).
DR. BRENNER INGENIEURGESELLSCHAFT MBH has carried out the services for developing of the parking guidance strategy, planning of the parking guidance routes, system planning, the preparation of application for state subsidies, the preparation of the tender documents, evaluation of bids and for surveillance of the system installation. So far, 19 parking constructions in the inner city area with approx. 4.900 parking lots are connected to the central parking computer. Information of free parking spaces is displayed at 56 dynamic parking signs, installed at “decision points” in the urban road network. Further 30 static parking signs supplement the guidance system. On the access routes to the city, information about free parking spaces is provided referring to “parking areas” that marked by a specific colour code. Closer to the destination areas, the information is more detailed and refers to smaller areas (e.g. center-north) or to particular parking constructions in there. In case of unforeseeable incidents, e.g. flood from the river “Neckar”, variable message signs have been installed to lead traffic on alternative routes. The parking information is also provided on the city’s mobility website (parken.heidelberg.de). ‹‹ back
